Schiller
pottery
The
pottery from the Richard Schiller factory bears a striking resemblance to that
of P.A. Wranitzky but it has certain distinguishing features. Perhaps the most
notable difference is the impressed mark which appears on some of the pottery,
that incorporates the letters RS. However, Schiller used to stick paper labels
on pots rather than mark their base, and while some of these remain intact,
many have fallen off in time, leaving the pots with no mark. Another distinguishing
feature is that the pots were often created from moulds with a raised pattern
as seen on the example below.
The Schiller factory still exists in Fischhausel (Hosterádky) but the building
is now used as a hotel. Move your mouse over the picture below to see how
it has changed.
However, some of the original kilns are still incorporated into the structure,
and some of the pottery moulds are used for decorations on the walls.
